Scale Out 1000

by Ms. Chilton
(St. James, MO)

My father-in-law received an offer in the mail from International Home Shopping for a Scale Out 1000.

It is an Electronic Hard Water Conditioner that attaches to your water pile and is suppose to dissolve minerals such as calcium and magnesium. I can not find any reviews on it.

Can you tell me if this product works like the ad says it does? I checked the company out with the BBB and they seem to be OK.

Any information would be appreciated. Thank You Ladybpeacock@hotmail.com

Magnetic Water Softner Scam
by: Anonymous

From what I understand about this system, what it actually is supposed to do is keep the minerals from forming on the water pipes. It cannot make water soft, ask any basic scientist, that under stands water hardness. What they use is a cleaver twisting of words to make you believe it is a softner. Go to a Govt. water research sight and see if they can back such a thing. I have looked into this also, and that is what I found out. They tell me the present day softners with salt or potasium is the only way to actually soften water. They said this gimmick was around years ago to and scammed a lot of people then to. Also if you have one of those hot water on demand units, it will get plugged up with minerals, because the water has not been softned. BEWARE!! If it is to good to be true... then it probley is a scam

Scale Out 1000
by: Matt Ulrich - Clear Water Concepts

Ms.Chilton, Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with this product. If you have concerns with hard water, I would recommend a salt based water softener. There is not sufficient data to support the claims that most electronic, magnetic, and other "alternative" water treatment methods claim.

A water softener is the only proven device to remove hardness from the water, and prevent scale build up associated with hard water. Please contact the Water Quality Association for more information at www.wqa.org
