Rainsoft Water Softener
Understanding the Regeneration Process

You might wonder, how does a Rainsoft water softener work?

How does it exactly soften up the hard water flowing in your pipes?

To understand that, you first need to understand what components and features are there in Rainsoft's softeners.

Features of Rainsoft Water Softeners

Every Rainsoft water softner is the product of careful and deep research since the 1950's. Unlike most of the water softeners out there, Rainsoft has designed its water softeners to remove not only calcium and magnesium from the water, but also ferrous iron.

With this, you can be sure that the water that comes out of your faucets will not cause discoloration and leave scum in your clothes. It can also prevent the rusting of your water pipes.

A Rainsoft water softener's main valve is capable cleaning itself, so that it is always giving out maximum performance. Its self-maintaining ability also ensures that your water softener has a long life ahead of it. To provide this power to the water softener, Rainsoft has fitted a self-lubricating 75-inch-per-pound motor unit to the assembly.

Rainsoft's softeners also feature smart microprocessor which analyzes your household's water usage. Thus, a water softener by Rainsoft can predict and regenerate accurately the water you need according to the demands recorded by the microprocessor.

One significant feature of every Rainsoft softner is the wonderful bypass function that keeps soft water supplied onto your systems even if the softener is in the middle of the regeneration process. This means that you don't have to wait for a few hours if the family uses up the whole soft water supply and the machine has to regenerate.

As it regenerates, it keeps a supply of soft water flowing to you. By its name, the function bypasses the normal waiting period during regeneration while the softener builds a supply of softened water, and instead keeps the water flowing as they purified and softened through the machine.

Every Rainsoft water softener unit can maintain a flow of 21 gallons per minute, ideal for even the largest and busiest household there is. Even with guests aboard, the system has a function that tells the machine to output a bit more soft water than usual.

Because of their smart microprocessor feature, Rainsoft's softeners are actually efficient in its usage of salt or any substitutes used during the regeneration process. Hence, it does not waste or use the salt it carries more than it is necessary to do so.

This translates as savings to you in terms of expenses incurred in having to purchase the salt needed to keep the water softener running and producing soft water for you.

How a Rainsoft Water Softner Works

First and foremost, the Rainsoft water softener intercepts the flow of untreated water through resin beads, which then acts to separate any solids and small metals from the water. The treated water is then subjected to brining, that is, the system creates brine from the filtered water in order for the machine to start regenerating.

Rainsoft's softeners have resin beads that are made of carbon that helps it to effectively remove impurities in the water. The brine is then filtered to make sure the salt used in regenerating is removed from the water.

Afterwards, the water is subjected to fast down flow rinsing. In this process, all salt residue and remaining rust and iron in the brine is removed from the media or the treated water.

The Rainsoft water softener then uses a preset quantity of filtered water to create a cleaner brine solution for regeneration. This is in contrast to other brands, which use hard, untreated water for cleaning the media bed.
