How Ozone Water Purifiers Work
A distinctive fresh scent in the air is noticed by many after a summer thunderstorm. This fresh smell is actually ozone, which is naturally created from lightning bolts during the electrical storm. The sun’s ultraviolet rays also create ozone.
Ozone is pure oxygen, made up of three oxygen atoms. One of the atoms is weaker than the others and will attach to things like bacteria and viruses and oxidize them, or turn them into something else.
Ozonated water purification systems create ozone (O3) in what is called the ozone generator. Inside this special chamber is a high intensity ultraviolet light.
When compressed air is forced into the chamber, some of the oxygen is converted into ozone. Once this process has taken place, the created ozone is sent through a line into a diffuser, which creates ozone-saturated bubbles.
Water is then drawn in to mix with the ozone bubbles and fed into the ozone water purifier. The weak oxygen molecule (one of the three), attaches to other harmful molecules in the water and cleans them through a process called oxidation.
As a result, you have clean, purified drinking water. Did you know that by gargling with ozonated water, you can neutralize the bacteria that cause bad breath?
Some ozone water purifiers are offered in table-top or counter-top versions for a single water line. Other models are designed to treat an entire home or business.
Ozonator Ozone Generator Water Purifier
The Ozonator claims to have the ability to deodorize your laundry, neutralize pet odors, sanitize bedding, sterilize sponges and purify drinking water.
To get ozonated water from this purifier, attach one of the ends of the plastic tubes to the ozonator. On the other end of the tube, attach an ozonator stone which is included with the machine. Place the stone into the water you want to purify and turn on the purifier.
One nice feature of this water purifier is that it is portable. It can be used to purify water for laundry, sterilizing kitchen and bathroom surfaces, or for using to clean a pet area.
This particular model can also ozonate oils which can be applied to the skin, effectively killing surface bacteria. Since this model of water purifier can only be run for 30 minutes continuously at a time, you’ll have to reset the machine frequently, depending on usage.
