How to Make a Water Filter

- 2 and 1/2 inch diameter PVC pipe
- Vinyl hose
- A small drill
- PVC pipe end cap
- PolyFilter material or coffee paper filter
- Activated carbon
How to Make a Water Filter: The Steps
1. First, cut the PVC pipe to a desired length.2. Before the attaching the end cap, drill a hole and attach it to the end of the PVC pipe. Make sure to drill on the right area.
3. Attach the vinyl hose to the cap's hole making sure it fits nicely to prevent drips.
4. Use a silicone sealant to seal the cap and the vinyl hose.
5. Insert the rolled polyfilter material inside the PVC pipe and add the activated carbon.
6. Test this by running tap water through the open end of the PVC pipe until it is full and let the water through the vinyl hose to check the water before directing the hose to the aquarium.
You can also make a stand where you can setscrew the PVC filter in an upright position to prevent slips.
You can also make a water filter for your drinking water by following the same simple steps. You might want to vary the length of the PVC to suit your needs. The longer the PVC pipe, the more water and activated carbon it can contain and activated carbon the water runs through making the filtration better.
As part of its maintenance, cleaning the PVC filter and replacing the carbon are necessary for the filter's continued efficiency. The cleaning will depend on the number of gallons filtered.
