Leaky water softener

A friend of mine has a water softener that has a leak around the neck at the top of the tank, below that dials.

Is there a way to fix that?

Chris, you need to be sure the leak is coming from around the top of the tank itself. Many times water will migrate from the valve and it is hard to detect where the leak is from. If it is coming from the top of the tank the gasket between the valve and the tank is probably bad. This is unusual to have this go bad, unless the valve was recently taken off the tank and may have been pinched when valve was replaced. What type/model of softener is it?
I really would suggest having a service tech address this issue.
