Is salt still in my hot water?

by Theresa

Hi, my water softener was going through regeneration while I was taking a shower. My hair has been difficult to wash for the 2 weeks since then.

Do you think salt is still in my hot water heater and do I have to clean it out? Any advice you could provide would be very helpful.

Set the right time for regeneration
by: Matt Ulrich

Teresa, your water softener should be set to regenerate when you are away or sleeping. Typically the default setting for regeneration is 2am.

When you were showering, the water heater was filling with hard water as the water softener regenerated. This is why your hair feels different, not to mention clothing, dishes, etc. You probably had a power outage and the clock on your water softeners control head is not correct.

Set the clock to the correct time, and manually regenerate the softener when going to bed. This should get everything back to normal.
