Industrial Water Filters Guide
Methods Of Filtration And Choosing The Best Filter

If you want to choose the right industrial water filters from a vast selection of filtration systems, you have to consider several factors.

Your goal is find the most effective industrial water filter that will effectively remove undesirable or toxic elements from water.

It is important to consider your options before you choose a certain water filtration system.

There are plenty of specifications or factors that you have to keep in mind to help you decide properly.

These are:
  • You have to weigh operating costs against installation costs.
  • You also have to keep in mind the costs for waste disposal.
  • You have to decide the type of application system, whether it requires continuous water flow or intermittent filtration operation.
  • Lastly, you have to make sure that there are no problems with the cleaning and replacement of the industrial water filters.
These factors, along with several others should be weighed properly before you select from a wide range of industrial water filtration systems in the market.

The Different Products of Liquid Filtration

While there are different filtration systems for industrial water, there are also different types of products that are removed from the process of liquid filtration. Industrial water filters that treat portable water produce waste particles that have a molecular size.

There are some applications that remove particular trace solids from the streaming process. The specific type of filter that is used for this process is surface-type, which utilizes mesh screen fiber cartridges. The mesh screens are created from a woven fabric or wire.

The Methods of Filtration

When choosing from common industrial water filter options, you are presented with 3 basic types. These are the following:

1. Bag Filter - is capable of removing suspended solids for systems that have lower rates of water flow. Being exposed to the processed liquid stream will not lead to problems. With this type of filter, you have to remove the trace solids right away.

2. Cartridge Filter - it is similar with bag filters. What is more, its cost is approximately similar with the former. But before you opt for this filter type, you have to consider its overall operating expenses and not just its purchasing price.

3. Self-cleaning Filter - this type of filter is suitable for filtration applications that have high water flow rates, the replacement cost of the filter media is high, and the exposure to waste products is harmful. This filter may be utilized for removing suspended solids that have an estimated size of 1 micron or larger.

The Criteria for Choosing an Industrial Water Filter

Since there are lots of water filters for different filtration systems, you should have a guideline or criteria to use as a basis for your choice. First, you have to consider the size of the volume process and the rate of the water flow. You also have to know whether the process is done continuously or by batch.

Look into the removed solids' characteristics. These characteristics may include the size of the particles, whether it is hazardous or not, and its capability of being recycled.

You also have to consider waste disposal. Determine how many times the cartridge or bag filters have to be changed. Along with these criteria are the downtime and labor expenses for the replacement of the filter.
