How to program the MacClean water softner?

by Carol
(USA)

I am a widow so I don't know much about the water softner other than it is a MacClean system.

I can't find an instruction manual and I need to know how to program the system, my water is very orange and the system is full of salt.

I put in the time but it also wants volume and rate. What should these be set at?

Carol, MaCleans softeners are all Fleck valves. Here is a link for Fleck manuals.

You should find yours here. You need to have the water tested to determine the water chemistry and the proper settings. You also need to know the size of the system IE: 8x44=24k capacity, 10x44=40k, 10x54=45k.

You can take a sample directly from the well (not soft water) to any water treatment dealer or an independent lab in your area for testing. Sears can even do basic testing, hardness, iron, ph so you can reset the system.

If you need more help you can call MaCleans directly at 800-243-6894 and they can help you. Or if you would like a certified service tech to help you go to wqa.org for a list of certified dealers in your area.
