Faucet Water Purifier
Should You Use Water Filters On Faucets Or Not?

Faucet water purifier units are essentially faucet-mounted water filters.

They are designed to specifically clean the water flows out of your faucets, which can either be used for drinking or for washing dishes, as well as for washing food that they will cook later.

Having a water purifier installed on your sink faucet has several advantages.

First it is simpler to install than larger whole house water filter systems. You only need to screw the filter onto the spout of your sink, and it is already good to go.

Second, faucet water purifiers are cheaper than the other types of water filters. It is ideal for those that cannot afford to buy or does not want to buy a cartridge-based water filtration system.

Since the sink is where these people use their water the most-like washing food, getting drinking water, and brushing teeth-a faucet-mounted filter system is the ideal way to go.

Because it is very cheap and economical, it isn't a problem to buy two separate filters for two different sinks.

Having a faucet water purifier in your sink actually helps you cut back on drinking water expenses. After all, if you have guaranteed clean water flowing out of your faucets, why would you need to buy bottled water from outside when you could get it from your faucets?

How a Faucet Water Purifier Works

Use faucet water purifiers for cleaner water
A faucet-mounted filter cleans untreated water by passing it through a highly efficient, sub-micron water purifier cartridge.

This purifier cartridge removes the dangerous, waterborne organisms like cysts and bacteria, as well as chemical contaminants like lead. The filter is ideal for families that take their water from municipal water supplies.

To ensure 100% pure water, the water purifier faucet filter system subjects untreated water to multiple stages of filtration. As water passes through each stage, it becomes cleaner and cleaner.

The filter for a faucet purifier can last up to 12-18 months. This is the average life span, based on a family of four.

A faucet water purifier is equipped with an electronic sensor that monitors the status and remaining life of a filter cartridge. The entire assembly includes three status lights of different colors: green, yellow, red.

Green means the filter is at its peak performance capacity, while red means it is already depleted and needs to be replaced. The yellow light is meant to warn the user in advance that he may have to prepare a replacement filter soon enough.

If you're looking for a specific model, then take a look at our recommendations below...

CrystalQuest

The CrystalQuest is an example of a five-stage faucet water purifier filtration system. It uses a variety of filters to make sure that no contaminants and microorganisms are present in the water that comes out of your faucet.

These filters include a pair of one-micron filter pads: pre and post filters for the first and fifth stages. It also makes use of a granulated activated carbon filter, an ion exchange resin and a KDF-55/KDF-85 filter.

The GAC filter is designed to remove chemical contaminants in the water, as well as reduce bad taste and odors. The resin is responsible for removing heavy metals including lead, copper, aluminum and for reducing the hardness in the water.

The KDF-55/KDF-85 filter combination reduces the presence of dissolved metals, as well as prevents microorganisms from growing in the water. Lastly, the one-micron filters take care of suspended particles including silt, sediment and cysts.

Culligan FM-5

In contrast to the CrystalQuest, the Culligan FM-5 is a two-stage water filter system.

Despite the less sophisticated filtration system, the Culligan FM-5 holds its own against the other faucet-mounted water purifiers. It can reduce up to 99% of lead and asbestos in water, as well 99.95% of the cryptosporidium and giardia cysts. It also reduces odors, chlorine taste and sediments.
